tbh I've had a very similar take when it has comes to thinks like langchain etc ... seems like so much tooling is just reinventing wheels

The mcp spec does allow some clever things like the terribly named โsamplingโ which allows the tools you use to leverage an LLM api you pass through. You need a server for that, but most out there donโt implement it.
As always Chris is broadly on the money. Also the S in MCP stands for security
